what a fantabulous concert, best of the season hitherto i must say.Sanjay was classicism personified even as he let his manodharma loose. Begada was simply superb.Shanmugapriya was sung beautifully-- lot of aha moments..esp teh nereval and swarams at 'sannutanga sri venkatesha'. That phrase is so naturally alinged for nereval. A serene slow paced neelamabari and we hit the main piece Sriranjani.Again a marvellous rendition- there were a few spontaneous ovations here.
Tanjavur Ramadad played a great tani-- gentle strokes and subtle calculations- I'm amazed why I'm seeing him for the first time in a concert. Tani was followed by one of my favorite Kritis- Needu Mahima sung with lot of Bhava--Hamsanandi is a raga of such intense feeling and Sanjay conveyed so much of it in a short rendition.

Chalanata again was amazing- he started off sounding like the popular Kriti 'Eddaya gati' .Developed it beautifully. This has copious amount of Hindustani Jog like sangatis(Guess they are the same). The violinists response was also special. Vinu is a great potential.

A few melodious pieces towards the end. A wonderful concert-- not a dull moment in it.

kalilO hari charanmokaTiyE gAka HMB
Anandavalli in nIlAmbari is by ST.

Ravi,
We heard that charming--slightly different from other nIlAmbaris song--at your favorite venue (Kalakshetra) last season from him. It has a majestic vein to it, apart from being soothing as a nIlAmbari kruti.
