Concert was marked by a Shruti Shuddha, Swara Shuddha and Laya Shuddha Performance by all three Artistes. Nachiketa preceded all the items with a short Alap. Raag Shri Alap & Raag Malkauns were probably the longest. The Northern Shri is a janya of Purvi Thaat and has no resemblance to our Shri. He sang some any swaras (Re) in Malkaus in the Alap making it sound Jayantashrish. He gave the disclaimer that that it was allowed to sing that way in Abhangs. Smt Priya told me that this was the first time she was accompanying a uttaraadiya sangeetha vidvan. She did an excellent job for that. This happens to be my first "live" uttaraadiya sangetha kuctheri. I have not had much experience listening to Northern School of our Music (except for recorded music) but all I can say is that it was a very enjoyable concert! I was not sure of some of the taal names (example item #8). The song was being in sung in Tishra Ekam and I looked up on Wiki Page which said Dadra = 2 x Tishra Ekam!!
