List:
1. varNa (S) - sAmini tODi - pantuvarALi - Adi -tiruvotriyur tyAgayyar
2. kEdAra (A) - samayamidE (S) - rUpaka -paTnam subramaNya iyer

4. aTukAradani - manOranjani - tyAgarAja
5. shankarAbharaNa (A) - RTP - sankeerNa triputa
6. taNni

Review:
The concert started with the varNa in pantuvarALi recited in two speeds with a series of well-knit swara's after the chiTTe swara's. Next came a brief AlApa in kEdAra followed by samayamidE which was concluded with a short and sweet swaraprastara. Then an elaborate and creative AlApa in Gowrimanohari by Anoop was followed by Vittal's relatively short and poignant reply. gurulEka eTuvanTi was presented with nereval and swara at tatva bodhana. This was followed by a quick piece - aTukAradani. Poised and creative rAgAlApana and tAna for the main item shankarAbharaNa rendered by Anoop was followed by Vittal's classically rich and beautiful essay. The pallavi - a complicated and challenging one in sankeerNa triputa with laghu in trishra nadai and dhruta in chaturashra nadai was well rendered with rAga-mAlika-swara's in the rAga's that appeared earlier in this concert. A good taNi by the mridangist followed this to end the concert. mangalam was not heard since another concert was supposed to start immediately. On the whole, Anoop's sining was creative and inspiring with his sweet voice, creativity, bhAva, ability to present outstanding briga's and good diction. Vittal and Prahsanth followed the main artist very well raising the level of the concert, without intruding the main artist ever. The vast temple premises does not have a great acoustics, but if you sit at a selected few places, you can enjoy the concert well.

Anoop Krishnan
Did not know till you posted now that you are a musician. Despite the concert being shorter duration concert you took a RTP in shankarAbharanam instead of winding with a list of tukkadas, it is a kind of a rare move. It is years since I have heard a live RTP in shankarAbharanam. Best wishes on your musical career.

Anoop, hope you are reading this!

THANK YOU for singing kEdAra, with AlApanai and swarams to boot. :D It seemed to me that the rAga is going extinct! :o I had no wind of this SRLK festival, or would have tried to attend something.

Good accompanists too!

Even gowrimanOhari is not often heard anymore. What a lovely array of ragas. Congratulations, Anoop! Maybe I'll be able to catch you this season.
