San Francisco concert - a few more details. I am not musically qualified to review/detail any nuances. But the seamless transition between the two types of music was very nice. You could really appreciate the similarities between these two types of indian music.
1. Invocation was in Sudhh Kalyan (GB) and Nattai (MB)
2. Durga / Sudhha Saveri
3. Amrithavarshini / Amrithavarshini (sort of an RTP style)
4. Patdeep / Andolika
5. Bilwal / Shankarabharanam
6. Malkauns / Hindolam
The alaapana would commence with one of the vocalists (one of the GB or MB brothers) and move onto other 3 vocalists and violin player. Similarly for neraval and swarams. It was wonderful. Unlike a few other jugalbandhis where each type of music just takes turns to sing a song. All the artists seemed to have great chemistry on the stage, even though there were a very few minor confusions here and there.
They got a standing ovation at the end that lasted at least 2-3 minutes.

Do the organizations that hosted these concerts record the concerts and make them commercially available? I would love to get one of these tapes (preferably all, but at the very least, one!)

Sankritilaya might make CDs available. Thats what they announced -- that they will talk to the artists and accordingly might make the audio (and if feasible, video) available. They have made it available on some of their past concerts and I have purchased an MP3 CD once as well. You might want to check with them. http://www.sankritilaya.org/ (Contact Us link on the left will take you to the email ids of the organizers).

Perhaps a poetic licence taken, in order to convey that the two systems can never meet?
