I have wished for a vocal version of this song as well! The only one I have is etched in my brain, what I heard as a child when my father used to sing and play this song on the vINa.

I have a very nice recording of my sister's concert in Montreal (Februay 1991) in which this was one of the items, and unfortunately the recording has only the last two lines of this song. She had played on the vINa and sung along in that concert.

I will try to coax her to record one for us!

This song implies that the dasayya is none other than Krishna himself in disguise.
Dasayyas are always a bit mysterious, coming from nowhere and going away to nowhere.

By recognising him as Krishna, the devotee is pleading that he come to him/her much like in the song 'Baro Krishnayya'.

It is a bit like the Pied Piper of Hamelin, but not in an evil way, but a happy way.

PS: it is the same with the North Indian Jogi and the Bengali Baul, made famous in so many devotional songs.
