Smt. Prema Rangarajan sang for Nada Inbam at Ragha Sudha Hall on 26th dec morning.

Chalamela Varnam, (Darbar) Angarakam Ashrayamyaham (Surutti), Parithanamichithe,(Bilahari) Pasupathiswaram (Sivapanthuvarali), Vande Sada Padmanabham (Nava Rasa Kannada), Kaanamal Veenile (Dhanyasi) , Nenerunchinaanu (Malavi), Sankaracharyam Namami (Sankarabharanam), Rama Rama (Thilang), Andru Ivvulagam (Sindubhairavi) and Niri Niri Gama Garisa (a Purvi Kalyani Thillana ). were the items presented.

The selection of the songs are in line with her well known penchant for singing new songs at everyone of her concerts.and the assiduous preparation.

The raga alapana of Sivapantuvarali and Sankarabharanam were elaborately ornamented bearing testimony to her vidwath., covering the different shades of the raga in a well ordered manner. An M.A. in Sanskrit, her pronunciation of the krithis was impeccable, met with rarely on the music platform.

I verified this with the artiste. It seems she learnt it in 1971!

One thing i forgot to mention. Her voice was in fine trim. The excellent sound levels scrupulously set by Sri S. V. Krishnan make listening a sheer pleasure.
