It was a concert full of classicism and life.
The svarams for the bEgada & sArangA kritis, the AlApanai,N&S for the AbhOgi kriti were all note worthy.
AV is a vidushi par excellence was confirmed in the way she sang the SP Alapanai.I am running short of words. It was all an experience by itself. She handled the kriti that is intertwined with svarasthAnams and the svara prasthAram with the same finesse to make it a consummate exercise.
The pieces post tani were sung excellently.esp.the sangathis @ tanana tana for sankaarsrigiri…were enjoyable. She sang it excellently like Bombay R – G with a lot of enthusiasm.Incidentally their father was sitting behind me and enjoying too !
BAK palyed his own versions of AbhOgi & Shanmukhapriya nad supported the vocalist nicely.DElhi Sairam was his usual best revelling.
A very memorable concert . Once again AV proved her mettle. Kudos!

I came in when she was starting #7 and it was a very engaging one though it was very tough to follow the words. The pace/varnamettu for #8 is not the one I usually hear, it was different and captivating in its own way.

Since she is a student of Prince Rama Varma, she might have sang the way he sings.
He has sung this in Rashtrapathi Bhavan when Abdul Kalam was president.
There is a youtube clip (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5p1JMZr139o), which is very nice.

One can tell that the influence is there, even sometimes tracing it back to BMK, but, just as Rama Varma has had more than one influence, so has she. On the whole, I think that she sings her own way ... and very fine it is tooshe might have sang the way he sings.

Sowmya sings it kind of the same way except palpably faster!ranjanimalavi wrote:Since she is a student of Prince Rama Varma, she might have sang the way he sings

Sanjay brings it to life (much more, at least for me) when he sings it (in Bagheshree and once in Patdeep).
