S Sowmya - Vocal
Vittal Ramamurthy - Violin
Neyveli Narayanan - Mridangam
Sami Dayajuda - Kedaragowlai - Adi - ?? (S)
Rara ma inti - Asaveri - Adi - Thyagaraja (S)
Bhavanutha - Mohanam - Adi - Thyagaraja (RNS@pavana) - superb alapana of Mohanam. I am not that fond of Mohanam but liked her Mohanam very much.
Parvati ninnu - Kalkada - Rupakam? - Shyama Sastri. Does Kalgada give a Bauli/Bhoopalam feel?
Ranjani Niranjani - Ranjani - Adi - GNB (RNS) - elaborate raga and vinyasa and the song was very well sung.. Quite a lot of sangati's it packed in the pallavi
Annapurne Visalakshi - Sama - Adi - Dikshitar
Brova barama - Bahudari - Adi - Thyagaraja (S) - sung in a fast tempo and couple of rounds of very fast swaras.
RTP (harapriye lalithe mampahi tharunendhusekara) - Karaharapriya - K Jhampa (it was a 8 beat cycle with just one drutam) (RNST). The concert that was nice so far took a super nice dimension from the alapana of Karahapriya onwards. Guess she let loose her manodharmam and showered a unending cascade of patterns in Karahapriya and what a fantastic tanam, mridangam accompaniment for half the tanam. It was so engaging and captivating. Violin return enhanced the overall raga essay and tanam. What a RTP it was and what a karaharapriya it was.. Due to time constraint, the pallavi/swara/tani part was not that expansive though.. All in all it as a 50 min affair, not the "engathukararum kacherikku ponar" 25 - 30 min affair that has become the norm nowadays
Very happy to have chosen to go to NGS today. RTP made my day. It is going to be one of the top 3 RTP's if not "The RTP" of this season.
Percussion support for the varnam and asaveri didn't feel good but from #3 onwards it was good. His tani was short and sweet.
Two points
#audible breathing especially when she was trying to sustain long karvais/brigha sangatis. it was not that evident in the Meenakshi College concert.
#voice sounded hoarse in upper octaves. is it that she has been singing too much concerts this season and she needs to reduce the same to reduce the strain on the voice?
