“Sthree” Thyagaraja Pancharathnam
Beginning the New Year on an auspicious note, about 60 Carnatic musicians will get together on 1st January, 2012 morning (9.45a.m) for Mudhra organisation to perform the “Sthree” Thyagaraja Pancharathnam. "I called it “Sthree” because it's an all-woman show and we will be singing in Sruthi 5 which is ideally suitable for women artists," says Dr.Radha Bhaskar, vocalist and treasurer of Mudhra, which is organising the programme for the third year in a row. “The response was amazing over the last two years and all the artists have shown tremendous enthusiasm and cooperation in taking part in this event.”
The show, slated to be held at the RKM School in T Nagar, will feature women vocalists and accompanists on the mridangam, violin, flute, veena and tambura.
NS Rajam, 72-year-old mridangam artiste, is also waiting to perform. "I have been performing for the past 55 years. Though I perform at concerts, this one is different because it is all about teamwork," she says.
All rasikas are welcome for this programme. For details, contact Mudhra Bhaskar - 9840072821

Excellent! Wishing the event every success. I presume the mirudangam artiste is sister of N Ramani.
