It was to good to hear a concert that had a old world charm. The presence of P.B.SrirangAchAri on stage elicits a certain respect mainly due to his elegant personality – his beard,putting thALam in lefet hand….

They sang all the songs in an old way or style whatever you call it sans any vanity. To my surprise they being disciples of TNS sang hamsanAdham in a normal way like others without shatsruti dhaivatham.

embAr kastUri had problems initially in singing the tharasthAyi above R during his kkpriya but his throat became o.k and in the S’bharanam rAgam shared between them he could even touch upper octave P.The whole S’bharanam was excellent – rAgam and svarams.

Sheera sAgara and kalugunA are kritis that will on their own evoke a bhakthi mood and the duo added their own bhAvam to make the feeling still stronger.

MRG as usual played softly throughout and his rAga AlApanais were excellent.

Veteran rAmdAs played with a lot of enthusiasm and played a 15 min.tani in a good tempo with PR that received applause at each stage from the audience.

Tx for the review. We had a long time back in our concert series ,where PB srirangAchAri sang ,now he has teamed up with embar kasturi as tirumalai brothers.

IIRC, TNS also sings Hamsanadam for Bantureethi without shatsruthi daivatham. Only when he sings Krupanidhe, he sings with dha because HMB has composed Kripanidhe in that manner.

In 88, in Bangalore Ramanavami concert in Fort hIGH School TNS gave an enthralling concert starting with Koluvaiunnade in Bhairavi. The accompaniments were Mysore Nagaraj and CSM. Santhanam was in the audience. After a wonderful elaborate Hamsanadam alapana, Santhanam went to the stage and garlanded TNS. He also garlanded Mysore Nagaraj for his wonderful reply.
