Re: Sharadambam Sharadindu- Bhairavi- HH Chandrashekara Bhar
apologies for the delay. Here is an attempt at the translation. Some things are still not correct. Someone knowledgeable to help out here.
This extols the qualities of Sharadamba of Sringeri
shAradAmba (oh Saraswati) with Anana (a face) nibha (resembling) sharad (autumnal) indu (Moon) , who bhAsita (shines) nikhila (the entire ) digantE (universe) [dik = direction, anta = end. Literally it is the end of all the directions meaning the universe. The version sung by Balamuralikrishna has bhAsita.]
pAradE (cross me over pAra = shore/bank/take across) mahA jalarASE (on the great ocean—jalarASi = ocean) bhava (of existence) pAlaya (protect) mAm (me) kAntE (oh consort of) vidhi (brahma)
[pAvaya may also be OK here instead of pAlaya]
whose danta (teeth) jita (conquered) kAnti (the beauty) kunda (of the jasmine) and suma ( the moon. suma = moon or a flower. Moon may be more appropriate), whose vara (excellent) kuntala (hair) nirdhUta (harassed) bhrnga (the bee)
[wonder if it means the movement of the hair was harassing the bees?]
Who is santata (always) cintita (meditated on) jana (by people) with shAnta (peaceful) citta (minds ), who has anga (limbs) like kOTi (crore) candra (moon) sahaja (taken together)
[ from the audio it does sound like sahaShAnge; but sahajAnge fits: sahaja meaning something that is all together and anga meaning limbs i.e. Saraswati is referred to as one with limbs that shine like a crore of moons taken together.]
pUraNa (who fulfills) what is vAnchita (desired) jana (by people) pAda namra (who bow down); vallikE ( is like a creeper) nirjita (that conquered) nandana (nandana vana i.e. Indra’s garden) [ nandana also obviously means making someone happy. But if this is associated with those whose desires are granted, the other two words are left hanging. Maybe one is reading too much into it and overlooking some more obvious explanation] not 100% satisfied with the meaning for the line marked in blue.
nibhanjana(who destroys) mAdane (the enjoying) svatana (of ownership i.e. the feeling of me/mine etc.) and garva (pride) who has cillikA ( eyebrow) that manOhara (steals the heart) ?????
[Nothing is fitting for the last word.In the audio one has heard, it seems to say daksha but this is not right. Daksha was a son on brahma. Someone knowledgeable to clarify this point as well.
Svasana has the meaning of breathing/hissing etc. from SvAsa meaning breath
One audio has nibarhaNa instead of nibhanjana both meaning the same]
vilOlE (who likes) vasa (residing in) rushyashringapura (in Sringeri); paSyat (on seeing) anghri (her feet) Suka (Suka muni) devahuti suta (son of dEvahuti namely Kapila muni) kaSyapa Adi (kaSyapa and others) samupAse (worship together sam = together upAsana = worship)

rather difficult to decipher
Thank you for your efforts.

C1 = Oh Goddess, whose teeth overwhelm the brightness of jasmine flowers, whose plaits attract and make the honeybees drowsy, who is always worshipped by good devotees and one whose body has the cool brightness ( radiance ) of numerous moons - protect me !
C2 = Oh Goddess, you who fills the minds of your devotees like the fragrant creeper of heaven's gardens and grants their wishes like kalpataru, whose eyebrows are so beautiful that it destroys the pride & arrogance of the devotees, protect me !
C3 = Oh one who is the hearty consort of the dweller of Shringeri, one who is worshipped by all maharshis like Shuka, Kasyapa, etc., protect me !
It is my fervent appeal to all those who attempt to give meanings that you may please translate line wise atleast first, before giving the word to word meaning. That is what I have done above. This helps in proper comprehension of the lyrics.

Would appreciate a clarification. Who is the dweller of Sringeri whose consort is Saraswati? The song does not seem to imply this

The given lyrics ( rushyashringapura vaasa vilOlE ) mean that only ! If it should not mean that, then the words must be different. The author must have imagined that Brahma is pervading that area and hence the consort is dwelling there.

It is usual in other temples in which the Devi is the principle deity to have a Siva Linga or other Murti to represent the Shaktiman, the weilder of the Shakti. But, SrI ShAradA is both Shakti, the power and Shaktiman, the weilder of that power, so there is no need for a separate Linga or Murti to represent the Weilder. {quoted from a publication of Sri Sharada Peetham}

Smt. Savitri, your last posting makes me ask this: I have always found it hard to understand how Adi Sankara and all other pIThAdhipatis of the sRngEri SAradA pITham worship SAradAmbA (with a vINA) as the amalgam of Siva/pArvati, when SAradA is commonly used to denote sarasvati. So, in this composition (by a pIThAdhipati), is the term 'vidhikAntE' alone enough to specify that SAradA = sarasvati?

Friends,
In my opinion, (Using the transliteration rule followed in Cologne Digital Lexicon),
dakSa means expert, adroit (adjective).
zRngapuravAsavilOle addresses 'the one who delights in residing in zRngEri'. It is a similar compound to gAnalOla.
I found a fine explanation (which I have heard before also) about zAradA:
http://nnagarajan.tripod.com/SARADA.HTM:
Goddess Saradamba represents the Saguna Brahman as Jaganmata, the Great Mother of the universe. She is also guru-rupini, as She showers Her grace on the devotees through the person of the Jagadguru. She is worshipped as Gayatri, Savitri and Sarasvati, the Goddesses of the Gayatri Mantra, and is also identified at various times with Mahesvari, Mahalakshmi and Mahasarasvati, the Great Goddesses of Puranic Hinduism. She is most often worshipped as Brahmavidya, the personified Goddess of Brahman Knowledge, and as Vagdevi, Ila, Bharati and Sarasvati, the ancient Vedic Goddesses. She holds in Her four hands, a jar containing amrita, the nectar of immortality, a book, signifying Knowledge, a rudraksha-mala, and the Chinmudra, signifying the advaita-tattva. Thus, She represents Brahmavidya, and is conceived as not different from Brahman Itself. Interestingly, these adornments in Her hands are identical to those that Dakshinamurti, the eternally youthful, silent Guru, holds. Both Devi Sarada and Guru Dakshinamurti are sometimes also pictured holding a Veena in their hands.
So we should not limit zAradA to mean just brahma's wife.

I think the parrot perched on the Devi's hand symbolizes (spoken) knowledge, or arts. I read that the form of 'Maatangi' is associated with parrots. One explanation was that where these temples exist, parrots are common with their charming presence.

Re: Sharadambam Sharadindu- Bhairavi- HH Chandrashekara Bhar
We should look at the lyrics not just with our mortal limited knowledge but try to understand the inner meanings with broadened horizons.
It is well known that Adi Paraashakti has numerous forms , each taking on some assigned task, though each may be convertible to another form as is perceived by the worshippers. The three main forms are "ichchaa shakti" , "kriyaa shakti" and "gnyaana shakti" . These are embodied by the Lakshmi, Parvati and Saraswati. All of them can bestow prosperity either similarly or differently. They are associated with Vishnu, Shiva and Brahma respectively for the sake of convenience of understanding some aspects of daily life by the common man. Of the three, Shiva has the longest life span due to his responsibilities and association with Parvati - hence they are the Adi Dampati of the creation. For a true Gnyaani, all are same and one only. Otherwise why would Muthuswami Dikshitar sing the praise of Parvati as "Kaamaakshi jayalakshmi, kamalaakshi varalakshmi " in Bilahari ? I have seen many vaishnavaites strongly oppose this kriti with their fanatical and foolhardy imagination supported by rudimentary knowledge of philosophy. I have not heard any vaishnavaite singing this kriti so far and do not know if they have the wherewithal to do it.
Let us receive and continue the legacy of our ancestors with bhakti by just surrendering ourselves at their feet.
Dharma Shastram tells "Rishi moolam, nadi moolam na anveshayet".

I must tell you we went to Sringeri during Navaratri. The atmosphere is unbelievable. What a temple. Easily the best experience for me.
Last night Kumari Soorya Gayathri sang during the Swamiji's Chandramaulishwara Puja. She sang very well.

I must tell you we went to Sringeri during Navaratri. The atmosphere is unbelievable. What a temple. Easily the best experience for me.
Last night Kumari Soorya Gayathri sang during the Swamiji's Chandramaulishwara Puja. She sang very well.
