G-G - looks like a lovely list--shouldn't the 9th song, and the 10th on your list be 'ADum cidambaramO'? Did he sing 'jAnaki nAth sahAy karE tO' in yaman? I think Smt. DKP used to sing it yaman, IIRC.

Ah G_G, you were there? I was there too! Loved the concert. Great Mukhari! And the raagamaalika in the pallavi was really well done.
And the pallavi was in Tishra jaathi jhampa, tisra nadai, put as 4 kalai first and then taken as 2 kalai later, when he sped it up for the swarams.
I left when the speeches started. I don't essentially enjoy Vijay Siva's tukkuda section much.

It was a very good concert.
G_g, kapAlIshwaram bhajEham isn't an MD composition, but it is a varNam.
I left after the tani for mukhAri. I lingered around until the RTP began.
tiruppugazh in husEni sounds very interesting.
Liked the mukhAri. idi nIku nyAyamA was rendered very neatly.
Concluding the pAhi shrI girirAja sutE pallavi line with a stretched ri gave a feeling of husEni. Sri Vijay Siva seemed to recognize there was something weird the first time he sang it, but repeated it later too.
The neraval and swarams flowed beautifully in Anandabhairavi.
Also, Sri Vijay Siva could have employed ni,,d(d)p, with a long ni in mukhAri in addition to the ndp which sounds like the MMG ndp (bhuvana trayanAyaka, etc). The mukhAri was otherwise very fulfilling and replete with classical phrases. There were many rss's which I always like so much!
Also, Smt Hemalatha's gamakam on the ni (nds) materialized more neatly in the AlApanai than in the swarams, in which it sounded like 'sns'd.
Quite a bit of samakAla neraval was sung in mukhAri, and it was awesome.
Smt Hemalatha, Sri Poongulam Subramaniam and Sri Anirudh Atreya accompanied beautifully. I liked Smt Hemalatha's AlApanais of gamanAshrama and mukhAri, but like with Sri Vijay Siva, I found her neraval and swarams even more enjoyable. The tani, although a bit long, was very enjoyable.

After the last year concert got rained out - and was anticlimactic - I was hoping that this year the Gods would be kind and it was a sunny day. Vijay Siva gave a wholesome concert. Really loved the song selection - his gamanasrama (which he announced), mukhari and RTP were very good. The first song (which I thought was a varnam) had "guruguha" in the song - hence associated w/ Dikshitar, the song was new to me. Have heard the AB before by VS in the bay area. Gamanasrama was very good - wish he had a neraval in addition to swarams @ Varija dala netra. It felt that it had shades of Purvi Kalyani to my ears (am no expert - well, the day I can recognize gamanasrama....) but good that he announced. The net tells me that it is a melakartha
Lot of srama to determine the ragam.
His mukhari was very detailed. Vid. Hemalatha's responses were very very nice - really liked her accompaniment all through. Where I was sitting - thought the mridangam was loud. was happy that tani got done soon after 8 - and he launched into an RTP - the ragam being in 2 parts, his explorations in tara stayi was intense. The pallavi was sung well, with the pallavi and swarams both being in ragamalika. The speech was short - but RSM should consider doing it that at 6:15 before the concert starts or at the end after mangalam. squims, unlike you I really like VS's tukkudas. His slokam was awesome, and the huseni tirupugazh was very soulful. shankar you are right - that indeed was the bhajan. I hope that VS comes to bangalore more often - and dishes out concerts like this one and am sure rasikas will lap it up. Crowd was decent being a weekday. Well structured and executed concert. Kudos to the team.
