The Rasikas Blog

Post by srkris »

Hi Everyone,

I have created a blog that would serve as an alternative communication link should this forum experience any problems. The idea to have a blog was suggested by our moderator Vasantakokilam, and you will agree it will be very useful.

The URL is http://rasikas.tumblr.com/

Please note the blog is not just for announcements, but can also be used for sharing interesting news about music in General. The following are the main features:

1. Follow (http://www.tumblr.com/follow/rasikas) - allows you to subscribe to updates made on the blog so you can get notifications when new posts are made.
2. Ask (http://rasikas.tumblr.com/ask) - to communicate with the admin
3. Submit (http://rasikas.tumblr.com/submit) - to submit your own blog posts which will be displayed on the blog once approved.
4. RSS (http://rasikas.tumblr.com/rss) - Another way to subscribe, through syndicated updates.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions to improve the blog.

Great initiative for announcements related to this site.
Not sure if it is a good idea for people to post other general music stuff there instead of in this forum, though. It would be just another place rasikas will need to look to.

am one of the Music Maddys mainly Madurai Mani Iyer whose centenary was celebrated recently.I have been attending a number of concerts like htose of TVS and Suryapraksh etc.On the 23rd Sunday 130 P M slot I went to MFAC to attend the concert of MS Sriranjini Santhnagopalan and it was vintage music in spite of the fact that it was Lunch time many elders and youngsters turned up and hall was almost full.Ms Sriranjini s concert was a melodious treat with S/S Rajeev
and THanjavur Sampath on Violin and Mridangam respectively. The event was full of tempo and the SLOT was for 90 minutes andn at 3 PM sharp while the most promising artist was requesting for one more song the orgnaisers put the curtain down rather mercilessly. While MFAC was kind enough to give chances they can allow the artists a couple of more songs and need not be all that strict. We appealed to the Sabha but they were harping on rules and regulations than the art.We learnt that during the different time one artist was asked to continue since the next schdule artist was caught in traffic jam/After all the next slot was only at 4 PM!
