Maharajapuram ramachandran also sings this same no. I think it is appar(not sure though will cross check ), but definitely not his own composition

Lakshman sir, I have this song by Sri Maharajapuram Santhanam himself at Hamsadhwani in 1992. I think I got it from Sangeethapriya. The text file that accompanies it says it was composed by HMB, but your HMB songs file shows only one song starting with the word "vEdattin" but it is a diferent one: vEdattin ucciyil (viruttam). rAgamAlikA.

MSR has sung the same song in his Santati CD which covers popular songs sung by MVS. The Charsur CD cover notes say nothing about the composers.

I checked with Maharajapuram Ganesh and he has informed me that the composer is not known.
