mixed nadai pallavi-s

Post by mohan »

For a pallavi in tisra jati ata tala where the first part is in tisra nadai (36 aksharam) and the 2nd half (from the drutham) is in chatusram (32 aksharam) can trikalam be done?

Mohan, I think it can. I have seen it done before, most recently by Pantula Rama at the MMA in 2010.
If you have the time, could you please illuminate us on how it breaks down?

Ramesh - the pallavi I had in mind was a samam eduppu:
tisra jAti ata tAla is of the structure laghu3, laghu3, dhrutam, dhrutam
the laghus are in tisram so (6 + 6 6) + (6 +6 + 6) = 36 aksharas
dhrutams are in 2-kalai chatusram so (8+8)+(8+8)= 32 aksharas
Total = 68 aksharas
the higher and lower speeds works out ok but don't think you can do a tisram in it since the nadai is already partly tisram.

The lyrics set in Charukesi raga are: keshava madhava madhusudhana - hare krishna charu-
The arudi is 10 aksharas

not yet - am figuring it out for a forthcoming concert of mine - unlike prodigies like Abhishek R I can't do these things on the spot!

Mohan
The sound is kind of like mandolin , liked your pallavi amaippu a lot, it was very creative. Also the taanam was well done , during rAgam found it bit difficult to zero in as charukesi. So how was akshay iyer in this pallavi ,hope he did not spot any sarasangi sangathis , just incase if there is any.

Thanks all - unfortunately the part which I thought was best - ragamalika swaram in 20 ragas (one avaratana each) didn't get recorded!
The rest of the concert is available through related links on that page.
