Abhishek Raghuram presented a superb concert on Shri Tanjore Upendran’s remembrance day at Sastri Hall, Mylapore, Chennai. He was very ably accompanied by Mysore Srikanth on the violin and Anantha R. Krishnan on the mrudangam. The three gelled together very well on stage, as they usually do.

Yes it was a superb concert by Abhishek supported by Srikanth and Anantha.sastri hall was overflowing.people were standing to hear Abhishek.from the start it was sheer bliss and the sound of AHAA was the only sound apart from the music.
A large number of musicians esp.mridangists were present.lots of youngsters had come and also many elderly people.they were all enjoying and were looking around to see if others were doing so.totally the atmosphere was very nice.
Abhishek sniraval at tatvabhodanajesi in guruleka was very good.malayamarudam raga alapana was not very elaborate but niraval and kalpanaswarams at "varamaddala taladi" was excellent.he might have selected that kriti as it was the rememberance concert of sri.Thanjavur
Upendran.the swrams at vara,maddala and taladi were done wonderfully.
Abhishek did a beautiful kalyani alaap followed by the kriti of syama sastri "rave parvadarajakumari" a very rarely heard one.here also the niraval and swarakalpana was something to be remembered.the different combinations he did for kalpana swarams were so perfectly done and in between he said as it was a concert in memory of a talavadya vidhwan he is giving such importance.but as usual some people got up and left as soon as tani started.
Ihad to leave after tani and the four items i could hear gave me a feeling of such fulfillment.

the swrams at vara,maddala and taladi were done wonderfully.

Abhishek is exceptional at kalpanaswarams terminating at multiple edams. It is not just the mathematics but also the creative employment of the landing note.

Sounds like an amazing concert. Wish I could have been there
