Launch of the "Carnatica Channel"

The Carnatica Channel, is an exclusive online radio channel dedicated to Carnatic Music, available on http://www.Radiowalla.in. “It is a specialized channel that covers all aspects of Carnatic music from shows on legendary and new musicians, to concerts from all over the world”- says Anil Srivatsa, CEO and co-founder of Radiowalla Network Pvt Ltd.

Right from vocal music by the legends of yester years as well as popular stars of today, Instrumentral music of great Vidwans, to the performances by rising stars and young talents in the World of Carnatic music…All of these and much more are featured in the channel. On subscribing, you can listen to about 300 concerts a year including vintage collections and performances from various festivals and events across the world.

The Carnatica Music Channel is all set for the launch shortly and will broadcast on http://www.radiowalla.in; 24x7, 365 days a year. Right from Ariyakudi Ramanuja Iyengar to Sikkil Gurucharan, to legendary vocalists like Semmangudi Sreenivasa Iyer or G.N.Balasubramaniam, M.S.Subbulakshmi or D.K.Pattammal, M.D.Ramanathan or M.L.Vasanthakumari, or instrumental virtuosos like S.Balachander or Chowdiah, will all be showcased on the channel.

“We are packaging the channel with a variety of day parts starting from Mangala Isai right in the morning to Nilambari in the night. The design is based on the idea of Entertainment, Education and Exposure to Carnatic Music.”, says K.N.Shashikiran

The show line up comprises, Mangala Isai at 5 AM every morning, where one can listen to great masters like T.N.Rajaratnam Pillai, Karukurichi Arunachalam, Namagiripettai Krishnan, Sheik Chinna moulana and so forth.

Prabhata Ragas is a show exclusively designed to brighten up the mornings with raagas ideal for the morning, that are exclusively chosen and compiled. Besides, in this show devotional hymns like M.S.Subbulakshmi’s Suprabhatham etc. will also be showcased.

One can listen to 6 new concerts every week from different festivals happening across the world in the show called Kucheris.

Legends and Masters is yet another show exclusively dedicated to the past masters and legendary composers in Carnatic Music. One can hear the immortal music of some of the giants of yesteryears like MaharajapuramVishwanatha Iyer, Madurai Mani Iyer, Musiri Subramania Iyer, Ramnad Krishnan and so on.

Themes is a show that focuses on bringing exclusive krithis of different composers, or special songs composed in praise of a particular deity like the Pancharatna Krithis, SrirangaPancharatnam, Abhayamba krithis, Kamalamba Navavaranam, Navarathri Krithis etc..

Gurukool is a specially crafted weekend show that aims to make carnatic music learning enjoyable, fun and memorable. Right from the basics of Carnatic music to voice culture and voice management, Gurukool is an attempt to help beginners as well as aspiring musicians, learn from popular performing artists and leading Gurus of Carnatic Music.!

Carnatic Coffee Chat is a weekend show, that will feature interviews and live performances of Carnatic legends while Next Gen, is a show that focuses primarily on young stars of today who are an inspiration to aspiring musicians and students of the next gen.

Shows specially dedicated to instrumental music like Voice of the Wind and Soothing Strings will feature all time great artists like T.R.Mahalingam, N.Ramani, A.K.C.Natrajan, Chitti babu, Lalgudi Jayaraman, T.N.Krishnan, N.Ravikiran, U.Srinivas and so on.

Finally, the line up also comprises, Nilambari- a show featuring soothing melodies in ragas specifically meant to calm the mind and enable sound sleep.
