On Sunday night there was this programme, 'kATrinilE varum gItam' as a tribute to Vainika Sivanandam and Sarada Sivanandam. Their disciple film music vainika Revati Krishna was interviewed. Right from the beginning she was putting her foot into her mouth. She does not even know about Sivanandam's ancestors. She said that The Tanjore Quartette went to Swati Tirunal's court, became popular there and then they came back to Tanjore and became popular there. There was no mention of The quartette's guru Muthuswami Dikshitar. She also said that the quartette composed mostly in Tamil, whereas actually they have mostly composed in Telugu. She also had the temerity to say that the veena had fallen into bad times about 20 years ago, and it was she who revived it, by playing film songs. What cheek!
Someone must tell Revati, don't put your foot into your mouth, don't exhibit your ignorance and your arrogance too.
