S Balambal - veena, DD SRSN programme, 20.10.12

S. Balambal presented a very neat Veena concert on Doordarshan broadcast as part of the South Regional Satellite Network (SRSN) programme from DD Thiruvanthapuram on 20.10.12, 9 am. The SRSN concerts are telecast at 9 am on saturdays on the four southern regional DD channels.

Telecast during the navarathri time, her veena playing was very pleasing. The mridangam accompaniment was very complementary. Wish to see them perform in other cities such as Bangalore.

Smt Balambal is a wonderful vaiNika of the KSN style. I still remember this concert http://me-and-music.blogspot.in/2009/03 ... inbam.html

And the KSN style itself is such a very natural and intuitive (vocal-like) one. Their pedagogy seems excellent too, in that the style is absorbed well in its students, making the lineage easy to identify.
