A remarkable concert by a confident young artist blessed with a wonderful voice which can traverse all the octaves easily. The concert with a lovely list of "old fashioned" songs kept the audience enthralled for all of three hours. His raga alapanas, neraval and swarams were all of a high order. The accompanists also played their part very well with superb accompaniment though the thani could possibly have been a tad shorter.

Ranjith Warrier deserves a place in the national stream of Carnatic Music and it would be great if he could get a few opportunities in the "Mecca" of Carnatic Music namely Chennai to enable him to prove his credentials.

Thank you sraja , palakkad always is a big place for CM. Nowthat you have covered sanjay and Ranjith warrier , I am assuming you can give more concert reports from that town.

Is Ranjith warrier a second generation student of SSI???.

Rajeshnat, I have no clue on his musical lineage. I heard that he is singing in Naada Inbam in December. Worth hearing. This was the first time I was hearing him, and he was indeed brilliant.

As far as Palakkad is concerned, during the Palghat Mani Iyer centenary celebrations in March this year, Sri UKS likened Palakkad to Thanjavur as far as importance in Carnatic Music was concerned. He pointed out that the district had given to the music world Sangathi Kalanidhis Chembai, KVN, Palghat Mani Year , Palghat Raghu and another great who did not get the title in MD Ramanathan. Besides there were scores of other very very competent musicians who unfortunately did not get recognition outside their own place. He praised the laya sense of the people of Palakkad and said maybe that is why the place had produced so many competent laya artists. He had been playing here for more than five decades.
