Just an update for the forumites. Rohan was in Kansas City last week on invitation to be a panelist at the International Acoustical Society of America meet. The Society under the American Physical Society conducted a week long meeting that drew participants of diverse expertise; physicists, neuroscientists, musicians and so on. Rohan was also asked to make a presentation and give a brief performance and to facilitate his attendance the Society agreed to cover his international travel and accommodation since he is now in Chennai conducting his research. This is the first kudos to the music he pursues. Two days back he was informed that his presentation has been awarded the Best Paper Award which is yet another satisfying reflection in terms of how Carnatic percussion is being perceived by the academia! Interestingly, the experience fits well with his another engagement while he was in the US which was his keynote address at the Youth Committee's functions in conjunction with Houston Classical Arts Society. Appropriately, his topic was "Challenges and Opportunities of pursuing Classical music in the United States". The face book response to that day long function has been spectacular.
