I have shared this melodious concert with some of the fellow rasikAs and have requested them to identify the accompanying artistes, more so the flautist. We have also discussed together to exchange our observations and attempted to make an hypothesis ?
Most of the rasikAs opined that the flautist might be none other than Dr. N Ramani. Some of the supporting points in favour are the characteristic twirls, pace and the tone of the flute. Additionally they also told me " we have heard Dr. Ramani Sir playing rAga AbhOgi before and we can relate to these pieces". There are also some observations which are not in total favour and there by have some reluctance in concluding that the flautist in the subject concert is Dr. Ramani due to the apparent limited role that we could observe while we listen to the concert.
We couldn't conclude to confirm in identifying the flute maestro, but we had a ' feel factor' for Dr. N Ramani on listening to it. So, the situation is like ' the heart says yes !, but the mind says no !.
I would request you to listen to the concert with a special focus on the flautist and would look forward to receiving your views, observations and comments which might help us to firm-up or to revise our understanding.

In early 1990s Balamurali toured the US accompanied by flutist Balasi. This recording could be from one ofthose concets.
