Suryaprakash concert at Ramarau Kalamantap and I am now attempting to throw some light on 2 of Suryas sparkling Kuutcheris the first one at ISCON TEMPLE Tiruvanmiyur on 15th and the second one at the Narada Gana Sabha Mini Hall on 16th 10 AM.
Iscon concert was between 5and 7PM.My attempt after reading Vathsalas brilliant writing can be compared to the saying GANA MAYILADA KANDIRUNTHA VAN KOZHI!
This tale of 2 concerts is worth writing since SURI excelled in both and proved to be the worthy disciple of veteran TVS and upholding the torch of Madurai Mani Iyer school.
Sury perhaps continued from where he left at the MMI 100 function at BvB on 28th October 2012 and excelled in singing fine ragas with ease and effortless manner.
ISKON is on the beach side at TVANMIYUR and it is a natural atmosphere with Lord Krishna on the back drop. The 300 strong audience enjoyed every second of Surys music.Suri started off with varnam and took BROVOBARAMA and the setting was perfect to say it aptly.ADAMODI was sung with all the beauty and one was driven to the vintage time of TVS in his hay days of music.INI ORUKANAM in Sri Ranjani was the master peiece and Surya sang it with full form.Sury also sang a piece on Lord Sri Krishna and the concert was soul satisfying one and the emotional crowd was catered to the melody and music of a wonderful evening thanks to Suryas Sparkling concert!
Surya perhaps continued from where he left and at NaradaGana Sbha Mini Hall on 16th Sunday started his concert with VANAJAKSHI and followed up with the fine keerthanai of Jalandhara if I am right and the KUTCHERY KALAI KATTIVITTADHU!A piece on SRI RANGANATHAR stood up as one of the best songs.Surya started off with
PARAMSAMBAVA and made a few voke up from slumber and rendered SARASASAMADHANA in style.Surya had another surprise packet in that after KAMBODHI raga ALAPANA took MARAGATHAVALLIM and excelled in it ably supported by Violin and Mannargudi Eswarns Mridangam. When Sury was singing EPPOVARUVARO the hall
plunged into darkness due to powercut and SURY jokingly sang EPPOVARUVARO current!and the audience were thrown into an ocean of laughing. The tale of two such outstanding concerts were really HIGH CLASS and ALL of can wish SURY to get into main Music Academy Slot

I don't know that I have ever before seen the same artist sing one evening and then the next morning.
Perhaps it was karmic retribution that silenced the NGS-Mini-Hall's sound system with power cut for a while towards the end of the morning concert. It had been more than a touch too loud (although ok with cotton wool in the ears). We could hear, just about, and it seemed to sharpen SP's appetite for micless concerts! He commented how great it was to be able to hear the real sound of the violin and mridangam.
Both ...excellent concerts, with excellent accompanists too.

I have come to the CONCLUSION that SURYAPRAKASH has to be SERIOUSLY considered as the one who is ACTUALLY carrying the torch for the Madurai Mani Iyer tradition & bhani. His sincerity ALONE qualifies him and his actions justify it also. I URGE all the MMI Maddies & well wishers of MMI to ENCOURAGE him. VKV

It is SP's policy to include an RTP, even if it has to be a short one.
