Smt. VS’s concert for KFA (Venue: BVB) embraced a tasteful exploration of ragas along with a great range of musical depth. She kicked off the concert with a sloka (“vagartha Vivasamprakau”) on raga bowli and darned a discerning connection to Sri Parvathi parameshwarau (in bowli). Her voice was in superior form right from the first sur and established a placid ambiance for the rasikas to taken on Amrithavarshini (sarasiruhana) with a spiritual agility. Smt.VS was creatively skyward in alaap & also displayed an enchanting gallop of over two octaves on the sargams. The concert trail got excavated further with a sublime alaapchari on sahana as part of smt.VS’s third presentation (chitham irangaadha). It was followed by Kanakaangi based kanakaangakka and Smt. VS enriched a stroke of spicy sargams as part of her improvisational quota.

Karaharapriya based Rama nee yada was the signature presentation of the day and Smt. VS spirited the raga elaboration with grandeurs. Her spontaneous construction of behlaavas, bolbaant, bol-alaap, bol-taans and taans revealed her experience+mastery+command+practice+ the passion she had in performing the raga. Mysore Srikanth ensured a perfect collaboration and sparkled a great deal of support to add holistic value to the presentation. Delhi Sairam on mridangam was superb. The kind of flexible rhythmic support he brought out along with a strong power-play was a treat to listen. Mr. Krishnan (morsing) also extended a nice support to the ensemble.

Smt. VS then graced her presentation with Madhuvanthi based sarvam brahmamayam with varied colors of the raga on the pallavi line to give a thumri-like effect. This was followed by a sloka set in raagmala ( Behag -> Bhageshree -> Janasammodhini) that led to the finale song of the day Govinda ninne ( janasammodhini). Albeit being crisp & sharp due to want of time, Smt.VS generated the cosigner components of behag & bhageshree creatively in-lieu with her artistic value. All-in-all, it was a congenial concert to listen to.
