Wonderful experience which words cannot express
Aishwarya Shankar’s concert at Nada Inbam held at Raga Sudha hall on 19th Dec 2012, was indeed a class apart, which mere words cannot express. She was accompanied on the violin by Melakkaveri Thyagarajan and on the Mridangam by R Ramkumar. After a brisk start with Parameshwara in Natai of Dikshitar, she went on to Paritanamichide in bilahari, khanda chapu of Patnam Subramania Iyer. The neraval at rokkamichutakune and kalpana swarams bore a stamp of her school of Suguna Varadachari Madam which was itself an aural treat. Next to follow was a detailed alapana of Ranjani with Durmargachara of Thyagaraja. Ranjani was explored to every minute details and Aishwarya did a commandable job in it. The kriti was sung extremely well without spoiling meaning of lyrics. After a quick atana Nee Irangadenil of Papanasam Sivam she went on to the centerpiece with an elaborate saveri alapana for 15 minutes which bore the stamp of a veteran. She sang “ Anjaneya of Swati Tirunal” with a beautiful neraval at Janaka suthadhi Vimochana Lola” followed by kalpanaswarams and Thani. She concluded the concert with Charanakamalalayathil in Senchuruti (Thiruppugazh) and brindavani Thillana of Balamurali Krishna. Both the accompaniments gave a good support embellishing the concert.
Overall the concert was a memorable one and would stay in the mind for a long time. I am sure she would be seen more in the next season, which she rightfully deserves.
