Sri Kovai B Dakshinamurthy, a top ranking violin vidwan who retired from AIR Chennai almost two decades ago will be performing for Nadopasana on Feb 6 2007.

Sri Dakshinamurhty is in his late 70s and does not perform very regulary these days. He has accompanied every top name in the field and is known for his strength in laya.

He will be supported by his disciples Sri SP Ananthapadmanabha and Sri B. Ananthakrishnan.

Hope some of the Chennai forum friends get to listen to him.

Shri Kovai Dakshinamurthy is a violinist of high caliber. He is the nephew and disciple of late sangitha kalanidhi shri T.K.Jayarama Iyer himself a noted violinist. Shri Dakshinamurthy had accompanied many top artistes in the 60s including vidwans like MDR, DKJ,KVN. He also used to play violin duets with Kovai Gnanambal, who I presume is his sister.
It is very nice to know that he is still fit to play a full length concert. It is also very nice to know Nadopasana is also around. Is it still "managed" by Srinivasan ?

P.S. MC's guru and his mother Smt ChArubAla was also a disciple of T.K.Jayarama Iyer.
