Narada Gana Sabha happens to be one of the prominent sabhas which organizes music and dance concerts during the Marzhali season every year. This season, Priya sisters presented a scholarly concert. The concert had depth in content, vastness in variety, perfection in presentation..
Elaboration of both Narayani and Bhairavi was noteworthy. For Bhairavi, the sisters chose one of the Navavarna kritis of Diskshitir. Being one of the most challenging compositions to sing in the raaga , in jhampa, their singing was all divine.. Very creative nerval at srikara bahirdasara…
The highlight of the concert was RTP in Bagesri. Haripriya brought out the essence of the raaga with ease. Every segment of taana was accompanied with applause by the audience.. They chose a long pallavi on Lord Muruga..
The alaap and taana itself was so good that Krishnaswamy could not help but announce that only such artists could handle a raaga like Bagesri with ease [with all brikas and gamaka variations] as one would usually do with Todi..
It definitely would be rated as one of THE CONCERT of this season.

I was in attendance at this concert. I came out with the distinct feeling that the sisters lacked a certain manodharmam at this concert. Begada and Bhairavi ragams both were very mundane in the rendition. The standard phrases that highlight the ragam were delivered. Even the kalpanaswarams came out memorized and choreographed.

The hall of course was packed to capacity. The above statement is just my personal opinion.

While looking at the kutcheris.com calendar , I see Priya sisters are performing at sri parvathi in eldams road which is the smallest hall , all the way from the biggest hall which is NGS. That is kind of interesting tidbit of info.

Rajeshnat.. the reason why they are performing at sri parvathi is that the 7 day saptaham series on pallavi's is being held by their Guru Prof.T.R.Subramaniam's Music education trust. On the concluding day [25th dec 2012] , Priya sisters would be performing.. They are presenting 2 - RTP's [ Todi and Latangi..]
