Second item was "varadharAjam upAsmahE" in sArangA. Each and every piece was rendered so beautifully. Esp the sArangA and naLinakAnti. A TVS concert is always a joy forever. Each time I go to a TVS concert, the worry of not having heard MMI live disappears. In today's cosy morning, listening to him in the auditorium was quite an experience as it has always been in any TVS concert. Certainly a memorable one this season for me.
A word about the accompanists. Nagai Muralidharan was a perfect foil to TVS. The raga alapanas, the svarakalpanas were all so consice and sweetly played. One of the rare violinists today with a very sweet bowing nAdham. Harikumar was just wonderful. Though i have heard him with TVS once before, he sort of had a tremendous impact this time. Mohanram supported him very well too. Accompaniment was esp top class. Full of energy, keeping in mind the music of the day.
Though the standing ovation has now kind of become a ritual at the MA, the one-minute long one that TVS got today was worthy of each and every clap. Also loved the way TVS stood up and acknowledged it with his proverbial humble smile.

Yes TVS's Bhairavi was great...heard two more fantastic BHairavis in contrasting styles within the next 30 hours - one by TNS - another Thanayuni in Music Academy followed by an outstanding Brindavana SAranga RTP and Bombay Jayshri's Koluvai followed by a scholarly Tri raga pallavi (dwijavanti, Durga and Madhuvanti) in NGS

This year seems to be the "bhairavi" year at the MA. Trichur Ramachandran too sang a lovely bhairavi at the MA. The rarely sung and heard "sarvAntaryAmi".. TNS yesterday (30.12.2012) sang "tanayuni brOva" again.

What I wonderful concert it was ! Fantastic bhairavi and lathangi.
It is always a treat to listen to t v s sir's kalpanaswarams .
Have not heard the nalinakanti song a lot , and as the artist mentioned ,
The purvikalyani song is also a composition rarely heard _ both were wonderful.
Lovely returns in bhairavi and lathangi by the violin vidwan .
