A neat, very pleasing concert. Great coverage of composers.Time seemed a bit short in the end.
The same "Yaro Ivar yaro" was dealt in great detail by Sandeep Narayan 4 days back at the same venue. Not a big problem, but avoidable, if organisers can take that extra effort. I am quite sure the artistes would be glad to co-operate.

I attended this after I heard Kiranavali at Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha. Both were excellent concerts. Kiranavali has a very pleasing voice that seems ideal for projecting the Carnatic bhava. In the Parthasarathy Swami Sabha concert, she provided a great feast of Shankarabharanam (Swararagasudha) and Sriranjani (Iniorukanam). Very confident presentation with a perfect balance between raga bhava, technical perfection and kanakku. There was no sagging in the tempo and she had everyone's attention in full. The same was true of her BGS concert. The detailed Poorvikalyani was a treat even to my overdosed ears as she managed to create sowkhyam in the raga alapana and contrasted it with fireworks in the swarakalpana. She understandably had a little less time for the Bhairavi piece but created a complete picture with some surprise elements in the kuraippu section that alternated between the Ni, Sa and higher Ri. I overheard a rasika thanking her for accommodating his last-minute request for Ranganayakam. It was rendered exquisitely.
Rajani, I highly doubt it if organisers can do anything about repetitions. In most cases, repetitions happen even between two consecutive concerts. I can give you at least a handful of instances this very season where I heard Todi, Kharaharapriya and many minor ragas like Nattai, Hamsadhwani repeated back to back. Given the number of concerts in the season and the fact that the audience is pretty much the same everywhere, repetitions are bound to happen and be noticed. If Yaro ivar yaro was repeated after a 4 day gap, I would venture to think that it isn't a bad situation at all.

Rajani,
Good to hear about a concert from you (even better--seeing you at the Rasikas jam session which was a musical treat).
I liked Kiranavali's singing when I heard her some years ago, and she sang ArO ivar ArO in that concert too
Isn't it ArO and not yArO?

Thanks Arasi and Karaikurichi. Yes, it indeed is Aro! Sorry about the mix-up.
I heard Ranganayakam twice that day, in both concerts I went to. I am not complaining, though. It was, as you say, exquisite both times.
