Muttusvami Dikshita – Book Launch

Dr. R. Asha's book Concepts, Contexts and Conflations in the kritis of Sri Muttusvami Dikshita is scheduled to be released by His Holiness Pujyasri Swami Dayananda Saraswati on

Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 9.15 a.m. at Tattvaloka, No. 76, Eldams Road, Chennai.

The event will commence with a lecture-demonstration by Prof. S.R. Janakiraman, accompanied by disciple Sriram Kannan.

Copies of the book will be received by Sri. N. Murali, President, Music Academy, Musicologist Prof. S.R. Janakiraman and Sri B. Madhavan, Secretary, The Madras Sanskrit College. Pujya Swamiji will deliver an Anugraha Bhashanam.

About the author: Dr. R. Asha (Sivasree Gopalakrishnan) is a disciple of vidushis Smt Seetha Narayanan and Smt. Kalpagam Swaminathan. She is also a classical dancer. The book is based on the author's 1999 Ph.D. dissertation from the Department of Sanskrit, Madras University, supervised by Dr. E.R. Ramabai. It delves into the depths of lyrical excellence in Sri Muttusvami Dikshita’s kritis, highlighting their philosophic, mystic and cultural lore.
