Yesterday, I went to this concert. Gowlai Pancharathnam was coming to a close. Predominantly, it was Anandha bhairavi, rasikaranjani (I think. Ilaiyaraja's Neelakkuile, Amude Tamizhe) and abheri. They finished the concert with chinnanchiru kiliye and Lalgudi's thillanan in Madhuvanthi. Entire concert was very well presented and badly attended. I forced my 13 year old son to come with me and he enjoyed the concert. There was no one other than him who was young in the auditorium. It was quite disheartening. I got up in the morning to listen to nadhaswaram and tavil in front of my door. We gave what could be the highest contribution of the day. Call it appeasement of conscience. Looking back after a couple of hours I felt quite saddened. Something needs to be done, fast. Least we can do is to attend these concerts.
