Bharat Sundar was fine form in his first concert in Sydney, Australia. A well balanced concert with good alapanas in rItigauLa, kIravAni & kalyANi. His strong control over laya allowed him to weave nice rhythmic variations into many parts of the concert. Brilliant support by Vittal Ramamurthy, TR Sundaresan and Trichy Murali.

Mohan - thanks for the beautiful picture and review. Are you and Sangeetha hosting them?

Ravi - they were in Sydney for less than 24 hours but came to our place for dinner after the concert. Amma's godhumai maavu (wheat flour) payasam went down well!

I should add that I used the copy function in Arun's KrithiBook iphone app to add most of the composition details. Made things very easy!

That is nice, Mohan. I guess the next task for Arun is to create a companion app that listens to the music, Shazam style, and automatically create the list... and... open up a thread here and post the song list. Posting a review can wait till version 2!! ;)

That is what I felt about Bharat Sundar when I listened to him a few months back. Quite confident in that department, Sanjay-esque in some ways!.

The young vidwan has learnt konnakkol and mridangam from <I cannot remember the name of the vidwan>. In JayaTV's Carnatic idol, he sang viribONi in aditaaLam as Kumaresh asked him to do it!

Bharat Sundar had his initial training in music with his aunt, Smt Gayathri Mahesh (disciple of OST), and later under Smt Leelavathi Gopalakrishnan (disciple of TR Balu) and her son, Sri G. Srikanth. He also received guidance in pallavi singing with Sangita Kala Acharya Trichy J. Venkataraman and mrudangam vidwan Sri Srimushnam Raja Rao. He is now receiving advanced training with Sangita Kala Acharya Sri PS Narayanaswamy.
