There is ongoing if unwarranted discussion whether Sri Sadashiva Rao was a 'smArta' or 'mAdhva'. The reason is that he has composed kritis in praise of Sri MadhvAcharya, and uttarAdi maTh satyavijayaswAmi, as well as kAnci SaMkaRacArya mahAdEvEndra sarasvati. This only shows he had great gurubhakti and no discrimination. Like his parama guru (=Thyagaraja), he appears to have believed in the oneness of Siva and mAdhava. One such kriti in praise of madhvAcharya in Todi follows.
