Mohana Tillana in Rupakam Tala

Post by aartipatel »

Hello Friends

It's that time of year when I am trying to help my girls prepare for their bharatanatyam exams (Grade 5 and 6). I have been searching for over a year for this music and have only found it as a you tube video (see below). Does anyone know where I can purchase a CD with the same version? Their teacher sings it in class and only has an old tape that I am unable to copy.

Talam: Rupakam, music composition: Vidwan Madurai N. Krishnan

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xOkk5iAKdsw

Also does anyone have the full lyrics with meaning written in English -it helps to beat out the taalam if the girls can sing it probably.

Your help would be gratefully appreciated by my children!

Thank you

Aarti

This tillana features on the album called 'Madura Thillanas Vol 2.' The problem is that only an instrumental (violin) version not a vocal rendition. See http://www.flipkart.com/mohanam-rupakam ... ed3fgzc2mg

And here's the meaning of the caraNa sAhitya:
un padamalar dinamum paNiyum
en mana nilayarindu viraindu
sundara rAjanE varuvAi
krSNadAsanaik-kAttaruLvAi

Oh sundara rAjan (another name for vishNu - means handsome king), realizing (arindu) the status (nilai) of my (en) mind (mana) that worships (paNiyum - bows down to) your (un) flower (malar)-like feet (pada) everyday (dinamum), please come (varuvAi) in haste (viraindu), and protect (kAttu) and bless (aruLvAi) the composer, a devotee/slave (dAsan) of kRshNa.

kRshNadAsan is Madurai Sri Krishnan's mudra or ankita.
