Accompaniments

Mr. K. Satish Kumar on the violin (student of MSG I believe) and Parathasarthy on the mridangam (student of Guruvayur Dorai).

1. Vathapi, Hamsadwani
2. Sriramam Bhaje - Tanarupi, Dr. MBK's composition
3. Nagumomu, Abheri
4. Varuga Varuga - Pantuvarali, Dr. MBK's
5. Radhika krishna - Astapadi
6. Anniyu Neeve - Mohana , DR. MBK
The anupallavi goes like
Neevuleka Gathi yemi
Neveluleka Gamya memi
Neevuleka Bhakthi yedhi
Neevuleka Rakthi yedhi
Neevuleka Ramayanamu yedhi
Neevuleka Raghavundu Yedi
Hanuma, Neevuleka, Balamurali ganamu yedhi

Dr. Saraswati (who accompanies him to say a few words ) said Dr. MBK owes all his music this person (Hanuma). I believe MBK is a great devotee of Hanuman as it is reflected here in this composition and a few others that he wrote such as the one in Sarasangi etc.

7. Ambamamava - Ragamalika, Dr. MBK w/ragas being Ranjani, Niranjani and Janaranjani
8. Mangalam

Maestro even at 83 is at his majestic best. The mridangam accompaniment was good. Not much to say about violinist, perhaps overawed by maestro's presence. During the nagumomu, you can see him giving some tips to the violinist. I am sure it is a learning experience for both.

Worth the 2.5 hr drive to Richmond from Raleigh and I managed to be just there in time when Vathapi started.

actually it should read charanam as there does not seem to be any anupallavi for this.
