I came across this announcement in today's Friday Review of the Hindu,
Nadabharathi celebrates Syama Sastry’s jayanti in Kanchi
Hyderabad-based Nadabharati is organising a unique event to celebrate the 251st jayanti of Syama Sastry. The event will have most of the singers from south performing at Kamakshi temple in Kanchi. The festival venue chosen is Kamakshi temple in Kanchi and the festival commences on May 8 in the presence of Sri Jayendra Saraswathi and Sri Vijayendra Saraswathi, next in command of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham.
The festival is scheduled to open with Nadaswaram concert by Desur Selvaratnam, Asthana Vidwan of Kamakshi Devasthanam, . This will be followed by short concerts by noted vocalists Rajaram, Vaikum Jayachandran, Rihvik Raja, Allepy Venkateshan – all from Chennai and Tadepalli Lokanadha Sarma of Hyderabad. Most of the accompanists are from Hyderabad. The other vocalists of Hyderabad included to give festival concerts on the following days are Kamalaramani, Bala Raidu, Narendra Sarathi, Vasantha Subbalakshmi, D. Sandhya Sree, Srividya Janakiraman, P.V. Subba Rao, veteran Jayamani Narasimhan, Komanduri Seshadri, Vyzarsu Balasubrahmanyam, Malladi Narayana Sarma, Akondi Srinivasa Raja Rao of Kakinada, Modumudi Sudhakar of Vijayawada and K.V. Krishna of Tirupati. Besides, there is equal or more number of musicians from Chennai. There will be a concert by K.J.Yesudas on May 10.
On the final day (May 11), the jayanthi day of Syama Sastry, all the artistes will render ‘Navaratnamalika’ kritis of Syama Sastry in unison in the presence of Sri Jayendra Saraswathi and his follower Vijayendra Saraswathi. Navaratnas are composed of Bhairavi Swarajati-Kamakshi, ‘Mayamma' in Ahiri, 'Sarojadala Netri’ in Sankarabharanam, ‘Sankari Samkuru’ in Saveri, ‘Marivere Gathi’ in Ananda Bhairavi, ‘Kamakshi Bangaru’ in Varali, ‘Devi Brova Samayamide’ in Chitamani, ‘Ninne Namminanu’ in Thodi and ‘Palinchu Kamakshi’ in Madhyamavati. All the participants shall be honored by Jayendra Saraswati. Eminent music scholar and Secretary of Madras Music Academy Pappu Venugopala Rao is to give a discourse on Syama Sastry that day.

rshankar, I posted the info. thinking some chennai rasikas might go, as it is just an hour's drive, for them..
For people like me, it is impossible to go at a short notice..

You folks of the twin AbAd cities are great enthusiasts of music. I only wish and hope that you get more and more concerts to listen to--as Bengaluru has become a major concert city over the years.
