As per DML's Chamber Music tradition, the concert was mike-less, accompanied by Sri GK Venkateswaran on the Violin, Sri Palghat Krishnarajan on the Mridangam and Sri Raghunandan on the Ghatam.
Dr. Sumathi's repertoire and her deep musical knowledge came out during her 2+hour concert which included Seethapathe(kamas), my favorite Amba Neelayadaakshi in Neelambari and Akshaya Linga in Sankarabharanam(the raaga aalapana was divine).
The audience consisted as usual of the knowledgeable Dubai Rasikas(mostly DML Members) and Dr. Sumathi expressed her satisfaction in singing in such an informal ambiance to a very appreciative audience.
Sri Govindarajan proposed a vote of thanks praising Dr. Sumathi for her highly acclaimed academic research on Carnatic Music and thanking her for agreeing to sing for DML.
Look forward to attending Dr. Sumathi's concert in Chennai and possibly again Dubai!
