lIlagAnu jUcE kulashIlulu -

Three raga names are associated with this song - jIvanti(kA), divyamaNi and dundubhipriyA.

1. Jivanti(kA) - smpdns / sndnpmgs [sangraha cUDAmaNi version] is to be rejected, since it becomes near-identical with Vijayavasanta used by TyagarAja in the song nI cittamu nA bhAgyamayya. [the G2-G3 difference is hard to keep track of].

The jIvantika recorded by Subbarama diksitar is somewhat different. It is the mEla corresponding to divyamani - no. 48 in the kanakambari-phEnadyuti scheme. The laksana sloka corresponds to the 'dundubhipriyA' scale [see below] and would yield srgmpdns/ snpmgrs. However, it is strange, as there is no tanam of venkatamakhi given for this mela, and the treatment of muttuswami diksitar and subbarama diksitar has spmpndns and srgmpndns in equal measure.

Rangaramanuja Iyengar has used the name jIvanti for the raga of LilagAnu.

2. Divyamani is the 48th mela in the Sangraha cuDamani, and has a symmetric, linear srgmpdns/ sndpmgrs scale. The song doesn't seem to have any sndp phrases; and either has snp or sndnp patterns; hence divyamani does seem to be a misattribution.

3. Dundubhi(priya) is a new name and was most likely introduced by the TAccur brothers or K.V. Srinivasa Iyengar, It has the scale srgmpdns/ snpmgrs, and the raga name doesn't have any older textual history.
