His guru KVN's rendition of this chatur pallavi is my favourite among all those who sang that . A typical KVN list but certainaly kvn has a near oceanic patantara .Nevertheless one should not mistake it is just a typical kvn list but a real lovely kvn list (I am sure ranjani malavi did mean only good things about pattabhi, just adding that word of caution for a select few others who may mistake that phrase typical kvn list). Keep it up pattabhi.ranjanimalavi wrote: 7. RTP Ragamalika

Rajesh,
Since you're so keen on KVN chatur-raga pallavi, I want to tell you I was sitting on MA stage about 15 feet away from KVN, MSG, VR in Dec. 1982. His RTP was a blockbuster.
I also have a KVN LGJ PRR chatur-raga pallavi. They performed mid 70's somewhere in TN - not Madras.
KVN does a splendid job even in that concert! It is a longish, very busy concert and I felt LGJ had tired out by this RTP, but not KVN.

Concert was almost 3:20 hours (started aroud 6:20 and ended at 9:40).
He did alapana and thanam for 45 minutes another 20 minutes for pallavi and swaras.

GREAT! As many(including me) have not been able to listen to him THROUGHOUT his career it would be nice if you can briefly recall his best concerts&when NOT NECESSARILY THE R.T.P. ETC for us. From my point of view he decided to move away from the KANAKKU aspects & merge into melody & bavhavam like MMI, GNB (late in his career)- I have discussed his deliberate change in this regard with him- Regs, VKVRsachi wrote:Rajesh,
