Memorable moments from penultimate day of BSU 2013

Monday featured the concerts of Sandeep Narayan (along with Ananthakrishnan and Arjun Ganesh), Gayathri Venkatraghavan and Malladi Brothers.

Walked in when Sandeep was singing Swaminatha Parapalaya. There was an energetic bout of swaras at Kamithartha Vitarana Nipuna Charana. The words seem to just roll off effortlessly. Have been singing this tongue twisting phrase to myself ever since. The concert also featured an RTP in kapi. Towards the end of the violin essay, Ananthakrishnan unleashed some captivating Hindustani oriented sangatis which elicited a spontaneous round of applause.

GV presented a tidy elegant concert bookended by the testostorone filled performances. The highlight of the concert was an encapuslated soulful kambodhi with the (sivan?) kriti "kadhirkaaama kandhan poonkayalinai pani manamey" in triupta talam.

Malladi Brothers rounded off the evening with their off-beat concert. Etulaina Bhakthi in Saama and a nicely elaborated Nattaikurinji RTP vouched for their virtuosity.
