Vijay siva along with V.Sanjeev and Manoj Siva gave another memorable performance at Bharahiya Vidhya Bhavan yesterday.

VS will be giving very few concerts during this Dec season. So, I didn’t want to miss as they are only few and his concerts give immense pleasure to me.

As varnams losing its importance as Ganapathi kritis, I also found old Ragams become new casualtiy in concerts, especially kalyani. Just to add, in the past
10 days, I heard the following ragas.

Gurucharan-same venue- Kokilapriya (sub main), Hemavathi (main)
Ranjani & Gayathri-same venue- Danyasi, Vachaspathi
Malladi Brothers-same venue-Danyasi, Surutti
Malladi rendered vasudevayani in Karthi F.Arts that day, like filler.

Vijay siva filled up the air with a beautiful kalynai followed by Eta vuNnara, Thiagarajar’s beauty.

There is nothing to write about Vijay Siva’s concert as it is always top class. No books, crisp rendering, when to stop the alapana. Agmark kutcheri padhdhati etc.,
With another genius like sanjeev and ever dependable Manoj siva, it adds to the value of highly praised/priced VS concert.
With no support like ganjira/ghatam, Manoj played solitary tani and was too good.
His Ananda bairavi and kalyani Alapana are worth listening. Few people were standing as BVB has cramped the place as the renovation work is going on. Balcony is better than the rest of the place down below:

Even dais is full of dust as the work was half way through.

Most satisfying concert.

I just checked with kutcheris.com site . Vijay has about 13 concerts this season - certainly not to be characterized as few. Tx for the review.

VS is one my most favorite singers - not heard much in bangalore. You get traditional music of high class - unfortunately he does not have a large following perhaps. That said, you can go just before the concert starts, get a good seat and listen to first class music!

VS is the torch bearer of DKJ's school.He sings quite good and we feel contended in attending his concerts.Have a Radio Sangeeth Sammelan recording which i keep enjoying often.
His nIlambari rendition of SS krithi is my favourite.

No longer younger in years, but also not yet older, although certainly elder in status, I am confused as to what label to use so have to say that he is my favourite of the middle-aged male artists.

About the concerts, rejesh- I did not check the kutcheri.com. From the Sunday Hindu supplement, he is not singing in the following sabhas:

Brahma gana sabha- Petachi auditorium
Mylapore Fine Arts
Carnatica-Parthasarathy- Narada gana sabha
Mudra-Infosys hall
Rama kala mantaph-T.nagar.

First three is close to my house. From that context, I meant that Iam missing him. Happy that he is singing in 13 concerts.

It is E tAvuna rA! nilagaDa nIku - meaning 'in which place will you abide?

And apart from the late lamented TRS, I haven't heard anyone else sing it right.
