One doesn't get disappointed choosing to attend OST concert, be it a short one like this (1:00 - 1:10 overall) or longer. No warming up and no other fuss, he hit the ball out of the park right away with the first item and went strong till end. Brief raga sketches for #1, #2 & #5. #6 started from vEda sannutha. Accompaniments were just right, and the way Chandramouli accompanied for bilahari was outstanding.

Thanks, Sankark. As you say, OST never fails.
The mridangist is TR Sundaresan (not A Sundaresan).
I believe he is the founder/coordinator of Sannidhi trust. He is a senior disciple of Sri Yella Venkateswara Rao.
The concert is on the web thanks to Parivadini. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UcwRfVxlUGA The concerts starts about an 1hr15mins into the video (after the mangala isai and some speeches).

Ramesh,
Thanks for that link. Is Shri Chandramouli having some contraption to hold the scroll of the violin. It seems it is way above the ground.

Vinod, I noticed that too! Makes for an unusual posture.
In the VVS school, people tend to hold the violin quite low and rest it against against the chest, as opposed to the clavicle. I have seen both VVS and RKSK do this. So, in this current configuration the violin is almost horizontal, it seems. I imagine that it is much easier on the ankle joint as well. I hope this is ergonomically more efficient for them. This posture puts an enormous amount of biomechanical stress on the spine!
I was talking to the maestro Pinchas Zuckerman when he came to our lab for some motion-capture studies and he spoke passionately about the skeleto-muscular injuries that violinists endure due to the repetitive stress on their joints. Although he was speasking of w.classical violinists, I guess the problems are probably not much different for Carnatic violinists.
Incidentally, Dr Narmadha uses a booster stand of sorts, but this is just to increase the height and it does not alter the orientation angle of the violin w.r.t the torso.
