Smt.Gayathri Girish at Indian FAS, German Hall,T.Nagar

Post by priyaram78 »

I was glad I could make it to this concert. Completely engrossing concert by Gayathri Girish. Hope to read detailed reviews. Was fortunate to meet our dear Smt. Arasi there. A very down to earth person, Arasi madam enlightened me on the raagams and other details. thanks to her. I wish I knew the composers names. One song Oru Nale has been composed by Smt. Rajee Krishnan ( Arasi) about which Gayathri made a special mention. also, the accompanists were very good. Gayathri appreciated their performances. Hope to attend more such concerts in the future.

Gayathri G gave an excellent concert. What accompanists!

I was surprised when she wrote to me saying she was going to sing the song in a concert. Since I had not arrived in Chennai, she said she would sing it again, and she did a very good job of it. Being a very intelligent singer, she understood the bhAvam in the song and it sounded very good. She introduced me to the audience, and a handful of people spoke well of the song on my way out.

Thanks, Gayathri!

Priya,
Was fun meeting you! Was hoping to see you at her demo at KGS the next morning. CRama, his wife and Sivaramakrishnan were there. Hope CRama writes about it. Glad I could meet Mahavishnu's parents as well!

The first line of the song goes like this: oru nALEnum un iDadu padam nilam UNRi ninRAl enna? aiyanE!
Please edit the pallavi line in your post. Thanks!

I heard that the lecture-concert at KGS was great! Hope CRama can provide a detailed review (if he able and willing, it is a lot of effort especially the meticulous way he writes his reports).

Arasi: Glad to hear that your composition was sung and that you met my folks at KGS!

Arasi Madam, It was a great honor to meet you at FAS. And Yes, I was there at KGS too, but I could come only after half an hour. so I missed three Kritis. but I completely enjoyed the remaining kritis and detailed explanations of Gayathri. Due to household commitments I had to rush back home, so could not catch up with any rasika :-( looking forward to detailed review of KGS concert by Sri CRama. I loved the Margahindolam kriti and it is still ringing in my ears :-)

No Sir, wish I could take photographs. infact I did not get a seat in the front ! it was full. So I sat in the rows behind. But I looked around and spotted you, courtesy: photographs taken at the Global Rasikas Meet. but I really could not stay behind for long and talk to you :-( thanks for your detailed reviews.
