Stage decor and connected themes

Post by Rsachi »

Sitting in far-off Kempegowdaooru, I am savouring these stage decor pics. One looks like a glitzy Thanka shop. The other a seedy cabaret joint in II WW Hamburg.

CONNECTED THEMES
Neelambari rage of silk sarees introduced this year ....
Rangachari Silks pays tribute to the Trinity
At Infosys hall , there is the horrific sight of board with a sleeveless model showing off her nalli silk saree right under the photograph of Sarada Devi.
Ramakrishna Paramahamsa , too has one under him to the left of the stage . For good effect .

Varsha,
Indeed, the season seems to be in the firm grip of the silk lobby!
Does paTTu in Tamil not mean silk as well as a wrestler's vice-like grip!? With bare shoulders and no holds barred!?

For years, the most tasteful stage decor I've seen used to be at kalAkshEtra. Not sure how it is these days.

Very nice. I, for some reason, never, ever, went to Kalakshetra, despite it being nearby, until this year. The theatre is beautiful, and the stage decor very tasteful.

I don't mind the Academy set. But... isn't that design William Morris?

In the CM micro-world, most folks seem to get the heebie-jeebies at the mention of any place outside the Mecca of Music and further, might even suffer a mild attack if the place be Keralam. The truth is some of the most tasteful stage decor [read that as sans loud, in your face ad-banners proclaiming name of the hall, or sponsor (as if you didn't know!) draped behind the musician...] comes from Kerala.

Here's a thumbs up for pleasing artistic and aesthetic sense, a sweet reminder of Music's connectedness with Divinity, Spirituality. The artist-singer takes the stage decor-um to another level. How many accord their accompanying artists such recognition?
