Dr.M.Narmadha violin
Poongulam Subramanyam mridangam
NGuruprasad ghatam.

The crowded hall even at 8:30am pointed out to the growing popularity of the celebrity violinist Dr.Narmadha.
She began with a brisk Sri mahaGanapathim in Gaula of Dikshitar and Kanaithilang Thiruppavai and a racy Raghunayaka , the MSG hit in hamsadvani tyagaraja song.
Notable was that there was no svarams.
The Kharaharapriya RTP was an amazing experience for the listener.
The essence of Raagabhava reflected in each phrase and so was the Tanam.
When performing the tanam with the Mridangam I thought that Tanam in the MSG style is a remarkable treat and Narmadha's exalted spontaneous rendering was proof of her versatility and command and flair on the instrument.her bowed notes were like a honeyed treat to each of us. Her deep vidvat was reflected in her intelligent selection of the various Priya suffixed ragas from the 72 melas. What I really liked in the concert was her felicity in her innovative presentation of Ragamaligai,
Natakapriya, kokikapriya, gayakapriya, varunapriya, yagapriya, bhavapriya; Ramapriya,Raghupriya shanmukhapriya, rishabapriya and she said it was Rasikapriya the 72nd mela in Raagamaligai. Normally we hear ragams like Behag...but this RTP had an excellent concept and Narmadha sang the trikalam along with chaturasra tisram.
This was commendable as the words were very clearly heard .
Pallavi lyrics.
Murugane thirukumarane arulmevum vadivelane; Shanmukhane mayurane dayalane.(in khandajathi triputa khanda nadai) 2beats after samam.
The desh bhajan in the end was like the wafting fragrance of a sandal agarbathi. WOW...what a delicate handling of Desh.
I must say that DR.Narmadha must be working very hard with her practice sessions.
She challenges herself and rises up to the occasion.
Kudos Dr.M.Narmadha.
Splendid support on the mridangam and ghatam deserves a very special mention.
Yours Musically
