Aiswarya has a crystal clear, malleable voice and is endowed with an ability to use it dexterously. She gave an outstanding performance at a concert organized by Kalpakkam Sangeetha Sabha, on 16th Feb 2014. She was eminently and mellifluously accompanied on the violin by Raghul. The Mrudangist, Praveen Kumar added sheen to the concert by his perfection in accompaniment, his tani was crisp, pure in nadam, adding weight to the concert.

Nilayadaskhi was rendered to perfection, with all oscillations, typical of the Brindamma school. YadhukulaKhambodi ragam was sung exquisitely, with no gimmicks, pure gamaka laden alapana, it was. The voice of the vocalist was impeccable, in both the high medium and low ranges. The violin return was equally brilliant, following the style of the vocalist. The song was sung a tad slow, I would have preferred “Kalaithooki” instead. This was followed by a lovely Vijasri, sung with measured cadence that showcased the raga in all its majesty. The Kriti 'varanarada' had some very fine sangatis, rendered with care and reverence. This was followed by a grand rendition of Karaharapriya ragam, followed by the monumental Chakkani Raja. Neraval & swaram was rendered at the charanam, which was followed by a wonderful tani avartanam. I was not familiar with the Atana piece that followed. The concert concluded with Saravanabhava and Madhavamamava.

In conclusion we had an aural treat at our sabha, with the artists displaying unbelievable maturity in the rendition of the concert, belying their age! The artists seemed to enjoy every bit of their performance, which added an extra dimension to our experience.
