I haven't heard Venkatesh play loudly so far. Was it the mike or the speaker, by any chance?

So, was it gOvindan 'aDi' mukundan 'aDi' rather than 'gOvindanaDi mukundanaDi?' Hope it was just a brief passage of it for fun, and not all of it--in bahudhAri, it can have a lot of kuzhaivu if sung without the 'aDi'

His play was good; I am no one to judge it anyway. Yes, he modulated his play with the mood and Sanjay's aggression.
I am not able to recollect the viruttams (on vishnu and Siva, the Siva one was addressed to Kapali as the song following it).

Sanjay looked majestic on the stage and he seems to have thinned down as compared to earlier.Varadarajan provided excellent accompaniment and matched Sanjay's moods.
Rajasekhar on the morsing and Neyveli Venkatesh enjoyed the audience with excellent thani.It is unfortunate to see the exodus of people just after commencement of thani and telling every one that thani is not at all a part and parcel of concerts.

His recent AIR concert on 12/04 featured this kOkilapriya kriti.At least U hear kOkilapriya once in a while but its pradhi-madhyamam counterpart suvarnAngi is very seldom heard.I have heard an RTP in suvarnnAngi by KJY almost 2 decades back in his concert for hamsadhwani here in Adyar.U can hear a nice mixture of subhapantuvarALi & dharmavati.A nice scale.

Thani is apart of the concert indeed accepted.

The concert started and so too the rains. It is indeed disheartening that Banglaore concert organisers to WAKE UP. The Rama Navami season and setting of night local showers match and this is a regular feature (that is why we have an elaborate pandal at Fort High School). Yet the organisers forget that the rasikas need to commute in Bangalore which is now a City of Distances not restricted to old Bangalore areas (Chamrajpet, B-gudi, the pet's etc.,) and the Traffic ! besides Diabetics (mostly old rasikas).
The concerts can at least start at 5PM (not 630PM) as in Music Academy to make it convenient for the rasikas to catch their supper in time.
An after-thought Sanjay could have brought in RTP to the front in a K-style due to the rain-scare.

While I understand the hardships faced due to commuting etc, starting the concert at 6:30pm is an excellent way to attract many office goers. I, for one, find it very convenient. There is no way I can get out of office in time for a 5pm concert.

Sanjay's concert was quite typical and was executed superbly. The Reetigoulai was one of the highlights. The tanamalika is another piece to remember. I have heard him perform this tanamalikas elsewhere also. The choice of some of the less explored ragas made the concert even special.

If I am not mistaken, Suryaprakash sang this during the season at the music academy a few years ago.
