Is this a CM concert from Vidushi Kalavathi?
Does that make her one of the small number of people who perform in both streams (CM and HM) - along the lines of Keerthi's guru, Smt. Shakuntala; and Smt. Lakshmi (from IITM campus)

Ravi,
I had not heard her name until recently. I could not make it to her concert at RLKM in February. Luckily, Shaale streamed it and I heard her. You may find youtube clips. Where was she hiding all this time (at least from me)?
Lovely strong voice, Sruti alignment and more. Hope she is heard in Chennai this season--that is, if she has been noticed by any organizers.
Ranjani Fine Arts,
You are doing a great job, with your concerts and workshops
Bengaluru is really is swinging with a lot of good CM

She has been performing CM for at least 20 years in Bangalore. She is Bangalore K Venkataram's daughter.
I don't know if She performs HM also

To the best of my knowledge, Kalavathi Avadhoot is a carnatic vocalist. I have heard her a few times. She is also a good guru and I have heard her students perform in a group brilliantly, obviously choreographed by kalavathi.
She is one more of the Karnataka artists who reach prominence very early and then hit a plateau. They are very good but they do not grow further probably because they are unable to break into the chennai circuit, for whatever reason.

Arvind,
How I wish! You took me for a Bengaluru resident! I live in NA, and visit Benda kALUru for a few months every year--minus the time I spend in Chennai for the season...

Thank you, just listened to her Dasara Padas in You tube. Very melodious and soothing. I really wish she comes to Chennai too and performs.

Kssr,
In the last 5 months post december season , I personally think bangalore has had more concerts in chennai. If that continues we all may have to say soon this artist, a tamilnadu based artist has reached a plateau and unable to break into bangalore circuit. :-*

Rajesh,
It's good news if what you say is happening in a big way. Amrutha Venkatesh, yes (she's tamizh by family too!).
After eons of singing, another tamizh vidushi is singing more in Chennai--Neela Ramgopal. Sumitra Nitin, a Chennai born, Chennai raised karnataka resident has very few concerts in Chennai. M.S. Sheela, though is from karnataka, has had her musical training in Chennai in her early years. I don't see her singing as much in Chennai either.
Yet, I agree. Things are looking up a bit for karnataka musicians in the capitol of CM--until Cleveland is going to be called that

Kaanada to Madyamavathi: A musical delight
Date & Time: 14th June 2014, 5pm @ Sobha Lake View Club
Vocal: Vidushi Kalavathy Avadhoot
Violin: Vidushi Nalina Mohan
Mridanga: Vidwan K U Jayachandra Rao
Khanjira: Vidwan Guruprasanna
The June 2014 monthly concert of RFA was a mesmerising performance of Vidushi Kalavathy Avadhoot. Well known for her fine sense of lyrics and laya, the concert had a great combination of bhavam, mathematics and patantharam.
Vidushi Kavathy started the concert with the Kaanada Ata Tala Varnam ‘Nera Nammithi’ followed by a brisk rendition of Tulasidala. The neraval at ‘Sarasiruha punnaga’ was very apt and bought out the nuance of Mayamalavagowla. This was followed by Annapoorne in Sama. Vidushi Kalavathy bought out the aesthetic appeal of Sama ragam through this rendition and maintained a slow tempo. The next was an elaborate raga alapana in Reethigowla. Effortless in the tharastayis and with intricate patterns in her alapana, Vidhushi Kalavathy was ably supported by Vidushi Nalina Mohan. The violin rendition of Reethigowla was pleasing and sweet to listen. Keeping the audience guessing on the krithi, Vidushi Kalavathy chose ‘Nannu Vidachi’ in Misrachapu. The meaning of this song goes as “Dear Rama, Do not leave me or let me down. I cannot stand separation from you even for a second”. The audience also felt the same when song ended. Purvikalyani was the next piece. Vidushi Kalavathy demonstrated great control over the ragam and talam in this piece. Every time she ended her swarams at ‘Summane dorakuvade’ reminded us of the IPL season and the sweet sound of ball meeting the bat. Vidwan Jayachandra Rao and Vidwan Guru Prasanna provided great support making this piece one of the highlights of the evening. ‘Sudha Madurya Bashana’ in ragam Sindhuramakriya was the next piece. Sindhuramakriya is a janya of Mayamalavagowla. Vidhushi Kalavathy presented this song in the rare ragam with great control over the sahityam and talam.
The main item of the evening was the Kalyani piece. With a lot of Dhatu prayogams, Vidushi Kalavathi bought the essence of the raga bhavam. Vidushi Nalina Mohan’s raga alapana was very melodious and felt as though the violin was singing. The Krithi was sung with a lot of elaboration and the Neraval at ‘Seetha Gowri Vageeshwari’ was enjoyable. Vidwan Jayachandra Rao played wonderfully on the Thani and the Korappu was like watching a football match between the Mrudangam and Khanjira. Vidwan Guruprasanna was exceptional in his planning and thirmanams. ‘Ee vela nannu Brovara’ in Khamas by Badrachala Ramadasa was the next piece. This was followed by a rare Purandaradasa krithi “Binnahakke Bayila Vayya”. The percussionists reveled in the thillana in Kadanakuthuhala which was a fitting end to the excellent concert. The audience left the hall with a feeling of wanting more.
