Blessed by the Swamiji, RKM began his concert around 6:35PM with a shloka and Sanskrit composition in Kambhoji. He continues as I write with Endaro. The swamiji was seen appreciating the first item.
Accompaniment could not be better:
Delhi Sundararajan
Umayalpuram Sivaraman!
Himachalatanaya brochutakidi with swaras. A rapid Marubalka. And now ads... Polisetty, CUB, Caeser (sic), Lifco..
They have ads for stuff from birth to education to matrimony, building materials, retirement homes and life insurance.
Kalyani main with Kamalambam bhajare. Niraval, swaras, tani.
A shloka on Sharada in Sanskrit inviting her to condescend to ascend the Ratha for the procession.
Maulau Ganga ragamalika shloka followed by Idatthu Padam in Khamaj...
Many ad breaks.
Violin : Delhi Sundarajan played briskly , clarity was there, subtle upaswaras showed up( the speech made at the end mentioned that the playing gave a feeling of two violins). Infact DS is the first Guru of the vocalist, RKM. This was welcome.
Mridhangam: Is close to 80. His playing to the 'song' has now become bare minimum. Infact this was noticed in the recent telecast (DD) Saturday slot to Prapancham Sitaram. Infact the kanakku swaras more suited to flute did not get support from US.
Thani ofcourse is a self made problem and solution approach and exhibits the mastery of mridhangam nuances; and this does not fulfill the accompaniment role.
Ramam,
I also noticed a dip in UKS' level of both accompaniment and solo vs his own extremely high standards. Could be an off day, could be age.
Overall the concert was not an A++. More A-.
Thanks Punarvasu, I realized it was pretty close to Mayamalavagowla, but didn't check before..

I think that kriti as well as the first shloka and kriti were composed by HH Shankaracharya of Sringeri.
Rsachi, that is how I recognised it. It was MMgowlai with the shatshruthi daivatam instead of the shudhdha daivatam. Then I realised it is the 18 th mELkarthA and I got the name of the ragam.
