Dr.M.Narmadha performs exactly like MSG the great

Hi All,
I am an ardent fan of MSG's music(M.S.Gopalakrishnan) the great violinist.Off Late I have been listening to his daughter's Concerts,webcasts,youtube videos,sound cloud recording so on and so forth.What I have observed is Dr.M.Narmadha performs exactly like MSG the great.

Today is Fathers day and I see that she has posted an audio in sound cloud,Karatho-Prema in Maand Raag,the folk raaga of Rajastan.
Showing her versatality in Hindustani and Karnatic Music.

True.She performs in MSG style.But this is true in case of GJR Krishnan and Vijayalakshmi as well - They perform in Lalgudi style.
TNKrishnan's daughter Viji Krishnan plays in TN Krishnan's style.

Once upon a time (it's a story...)

I was watching Narmadha play. I was thoroughly enjoying it, but still aware that there was a percentage missing, compared to her father. Part way through the concert, MSG himself arrived at the hall, and it was if his spark jumped onto the stage and into her playing.

Now I feel that, on top of the lifetime's instruction and example, the spark itself was his last legacy to her, and it is hers now.

Yes, Dr Narmadha is an amazing violinist in both solo and accompaniment. With her control over both carnatic and hindustani , she is in a different all together. Unfortunately female accompanying violinists are not that preferred in the music circuit. Also , nowadays, not many main artists want an excellent violinist as an accompaniment. They want an above average violinist who is good enough to faithfully follow the main artist without any apaswarams and not that good enough to get more applause than the main artist.

Gone are the days when we sit at the edge of the seat enjoying a KVN-MSG neraval exchange or a TSK-MSG swara exchange , one trying to excel the other but still with mutual respect and admiration.

There is no doubt about Dr. Narmada's solo as well as accompaniment abilities.
MSG - Narmada duets were always a treat.But There is no one to match Dr.Narmada in the MSG lineage.
In the violin duet scenario lalgudi GJR Krishnan and Vijayalakshmi are doing extremely well.Read Madam Arasi's report in the cleveland Aradhana as well as numerous reviews
shared by forumites.

First, Parur School with Great Maestros-Sangita Kala Archarya M.S.Ananta Raman Sir and Sangita Kala Nidhi M.S.Gopala Krishnan Sir. Dr.Narmada is passionate, committed and dedicated in Parur-MSG School and M.A.Sundaresan is equally passionate, committed and dedicated in Parur-MSA school. Both of them are not only exceptionally talented, they are also continuing the deep commitment to Sadhakam Sampathi, following their Gurus.
Similarly, GJR Krishnan and Vijayalakshmi. But I am not sure of Viji Krishnan and her brother in the lineage of Pappa-TNK school. Please correct me, if I am wrong.
I came to know that Lecture Demonstration by Vid.Narmada, Vid.Vijayalakshmi and Vid.Viji Krishnan on their respective schools of music was very good. I wish more Lecture Demonstrations opportunities at all the centers of Carnatic Music should be arranged for appreciation of all these three schools, with immense contribution to the cause of Carnatic Music practice and education.

I completely agree with you.TN Krishnan's daughter is equally good and have heard play with Sri TNK.She lives in USA and perhaps less known here.

btw the rate at which kanyakumari is producing capable violinists is praiseworthy. heard m rajiv accompany sankarnarayan yesterday. was fabulous.
